Boris Misirkov (1971, Sofia) and Georgi Bogdanov (1971, Varna) graduated together from the National High School for Ancient Languages and Cultures (1985–90), the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts (1991–96), and the FABRICA experimental center, Italy (1997–98). As photographers, artists, and cinematographers, they work exclusively in tandem.
They are co-founders of the Bulgarian Photographic Association and the founders of the production company AGITPROP. Alongside their photography practice, the two are the authors and/or cinematographers of numerous feature-length documentaries, experimental videos, and visual campaigns. They have curated a number of photography exhibitions of contemporary Bulgarian artists.
Their photographic compositions are stylistically diverse and can be characterized by the term “staged documentary projects.” Their works are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; the Musée de l’Élysée in Lausanne, Switzerland; the Museum of Photographic Art in Odense, Denmark; the National Art Gallery, Bulgaria; the Sofia City Art Gallery; the National Library, Paris; Venice International University; the collections of Erste Bank (Austria); Banca Unicredito (Italy); and in the European Parliament and private collections around the world.
