The Czech politician, playwright, and intellectual Václav Havel is one of the great symbols of the unification of Eastern and Western Europe and someone who personally lobbied for Bulgaria and its acceptance into Europe. His texts and positions have been well known in Bulgaria since the eighties. In his honor, on October 31, the Sofia Discussion Forum and Sofia Municipality will open the artistic synthesis The Heart Travels (author Prof. Academician Kurt Gebauer) at the recently named Václav Havel Square in Sofia.
The opening will be followed by the discussion “Havel’s Role in Dissidence in Europe” at 12:00 in the Missia23 conference center, with the participation of Ms. Karolína Stránská and Milan Babík from the Václav Havel Library in Prague; the editor-in-chief of the portal and magazine Kultura, Toni Nikolov; and political scientist Prof. Evgenii Dainov.
